Residential Waste Water Technology Overview

It's generally agreed that in our shallow, sandy soil in Hanalei, nothing less that a Aerobic System prevents our surrounding waters from getting polluted with pathogens caused by human waste. Cesspools are definitely inadequate (and should be illegal in our area) since much of Hanalei is just above the water table, which means that raw sewage weeps directly into our waterways and ocean. The fact that there are still so many cesspools in Hanalei, combined with high volume users like TVR's, puts a great deal of dangerous bacteria directly into our local waters, which causes sickness, infections and reef / wildlife destruction.
